Color these two establishments green.

Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills and Hampton Inn in Leesburg have been added to the state Department of Environment Protection's " Florida Green Lodging Program."

The voluntary program offers tips to hotels and motels on adopting cost-saving "green" practices that cut waste and conserve natural resources. To become a member, places where people bunk down must adopt measures such as water conservation, waste reduction and energy efficiency techniques.

As an incentive, those in the program are recommended by the state to companies and trade groups looking for environmentally-conscious lodging and convention facilities.

Also in the Green Lodging Program from Lake are Tremain Street Cottages, Mount Dora; Best Western Lake County Inn & Suites, Tavares; Fairfield Inn & Suites, Clermont; and Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont.

Oktoberfest 2010 Howey in the Hills, Florida

Some six million people world wide attend Oktoberfest celebrations every year making this the world’s largest fair. Numerous cities hold a fall gathering, modeled after the original Munich Oktoberfest.  Traditionally, the festival is held on an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese).

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – In keeping with The Nick Beucher Family’s commitment to superior quality in both products and services, Mission Inn will begin their ambitious ‘Restoration of A Classic’ project, replacing all eighteen greens on their El Campeon golf course, beginning in early August 2010.

Led by Mission Inn’s Golf Superintendent, Paul Hickman, the team will include Mission Inn employees and experts from around the country..
