ORLANDO — The Central Florida Sports CommissionBoard of Directors has elected Bud Beucher of Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills as its incoming chairperson for 2010. Beucher succeeds Jon Borresen, who will remain on the board as a past chairman.
“We are thankful for Mr. Borresen's important guidance and strong leadership during 2009,” said CFSC spokesman Sam Stark. “The CFSC and Mission Inn Resort & Club have partnered on an NCAA golf event every year since 1997. Mr. Beucher is very knowledgeable of the sports-business world, something that will benefit our organization and all of Central Florida in 2010.”
The CFSC Board of Directors also announced its new members for 2010: Laura Guitar (Edelman Public Relations), Cheryl Henry (Ruth's Chris Steakhouse), Kelly Lafferman (Tavistock Group), Mike Millay (Disney Sports Attractions), Charles "Bo" Outlaw (Orlando Magic), Domingo Sanchez (Titan Land Company) and Bill Sutton (Bill Sutton and Associations).
Departing board members include Cheryl Boza (Walt Disney World Company) Jim Murphy (Osceola Management) and Bruce Skwarlo (Orlando Marriott Lake Mary).
“Our Board of Directors has always been the backbone of the Sports Commission,” Stark said. “We are expanding its role by increasing the total number board seats to 19. This allows each of our community partners to be well represented as we strengthen Central Florida's reputation as the nation’s top sports destination.” The new board begins its term on Jan. 1.
