HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Senior Corey Nagy shot an even-par 71 Sunday at Mission Inn Resort & Club and finished two strokes ahead of Charlotte 49ers teammate Olafur Loftsson to become the fifth player to win consecutive Atlantic 10 individual golf titles.
Nagy's 4-under total for three rounds helped the 49ers capture the team title - by 18 strokes over runner-up Richmond - and tie Penn State's record of five straight A-10 championships.
Charlotte finished 11 over, posting lowest round on each of the three days.
"Winning when you're supposed to win is never easy and not something you take for granted, ... " said 49ers coach Adam Pry. "I'm really proud of Corey and it's a great way to end for him."
Charlotte earned an automatic bid to a school-record sixth straight NCAA tournament. Regionals will be played May 20-22 at six sites. The NCAA Championships will be June 1-6 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
