The way the week began, it appeared a fifth career major for Yani Tseng would have to wait.
But after opening at 1 under, Tseng followed with a pair of 66s to get into the final pairing at the Women’s British Open Sunday at Carnoustie.
Then all Tseng did was close for a 3-under 69 to defend her title, flipping a two-shot deficit into four-shot win, giving her her fifth career major and fourth since she began working with coach Gary Gilchrist at the start of 2010. The win also made her the youngest man or woman to win five majors as she added to her win earlier in the year at the Wegmans LPGA Championship.
